Who is the 12 Hour Care for Children course most suitable for?

This course has been designed for Early Years Practitioners, Childminders and Nannies. It meets all EYFS / Ofsted requirements and the CSSIW and Scottish Early Years.

12 Hour Care for Children Course Overview

The course includes both primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares the rescuer to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building the rescuer’s confidence to render first aid to an infant or child in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable. The Care for Children course content is based on guidelines from the Paediatric Working Group of .

  • All the course content from our Care for Children Standard Course.
  • Febrile Convulsions
  • Meningitis
  • Sickle Cell

How long is the 12 Hour Care for Children Course?

Classroom Option

All the theory and practical is run over 2 days

The mandatory 12 hours required by the HSE and OFSTED can also be delivered over a longer period of time should staff availability be a problem to your organisation, please contact us to discuss your requirements

Haven't got time to spend two days with us in the classroom then we have a self study and classroom combination for you (blended).

Blended Option

You will pre-read the materials at your leisure, then attend one day classroom session between 6 - 8 hours to complete all of the practical elements of the course AFTER completing (and passing) the theory exam, which will be undertaken as the first activity. Unfortunately if the exam is not passed then the practical will be rescheduled (additional cost).

Course Accreditation

To meet the certification requirements all learners must be assessed whilst performing practical elements of the course, some of which will require you to kneel on the floor. Please ensure that you can physically fulfil these practical requirements
